Is your Core Training causing neck pain?

While crunches or forward flexion of the upper torso and head are popular, you could be doing them incorrectly or you may require more strength to do them OR they just may not be a good exercise choice for you to do!
At Core Wellness, we do not do a lot of exercises that require crunching up, yet your abdominals will get a phenomenal workout. There are countless ways to engage the core abdominals without causing neck tension.
If you have a neck injury, osteoporosis, 65 or older you’re better off skipping crunches altogether.
There are ways to flex the spine yet support the neck and head. These adaptations (like using an arc barrel or spine supporter) can be done in small groups or private classes. If your neck is getting tired, just placing a hand behind the head is the fastest and easiest choice.

One of my favorite things…
It’s a tea drink. If you know me, I always have a cup of tea nearby. Herbal teas are my favorite. Why? Because they usually have health benefits and they provide hydration. Want to reduce your reliance on Caffeine? (Caffeine is a drug, can make you jittery, and can impact your cholesterol counts negatively-it does have some cognitive benefits though!) Currently, I’m really enjoying the new Teecino formulas! It’s pronounced (Tea-CH-EE-No). The company has several dandelion teas that taste very similar to COFFEE! Yes, it’s true! My favorite is the Caramel Nut, but there are several other awesome flavors like Mint Mocha, and Vanilla Nut. I have been making ICED COFFEE-Teecinos this summer with the Dark Roast. It pairs perfectly with my half and half and agave…and of course I add protein powder. My favorite protein powder is: Vital Proteins Vanilla because it’s high quality, my doctor recommends it, and it blends in seamlessly with my coffee or my Teecino. Yum! Go Get You SOME! 🙂
