Learn how to use the Pilates Equipment with Core Wellness Pilates
You will learn the essential Pilates repertoire on each apparatus from the beginning level to the advanced level. Pilates teaching on the apparatuses requires more than knowing the exercises alone. Feel confident with the set up and maintenance of the various Pilates equipment pieces. Learn options to adapt the exercises, spot clients, and customize workouts for a variety of levels, group sizes, safety needs and goals.

Spine Corrector
Learn how to use the Spine Corrector to enhance your Pilates instruction. The Spine Corrector is used to modify Mat exercises. It can also be used to support the hips, neck and head, and place the body in a reclined/inclined position.

Reformer
The Reformer is considered a universal equipment piece. Many studios use the Reformer to provide effective all-encompassing workouts. Cardiovascular fitness can be done on the reformer using the jump board. Learn how to guide clients through various workouts using the Reformer.

Cadillac/Tower
The Cadillac is a versatile equipment piece that can assist in providing safe and effective workouts for special populations. There are also challenging acrobatic strengthening exercises for the most elite athletes using the Cadillac Trapeze. Learn how to work with a variety of clients using the Cadillac Tower attached to a wall or Reformer.

Wunda/Stability Chair
The function forward Stability Chair or Wunda, adds challenge and variety with its smaller surface. Learn how to build your client’s strength, stamina, and coordination using the Chair. Great for sports like skiing, diving, golf, and swimming

Ladder Barrel
Learn how to stretch and strengthen maximally using the Ladder Barrel. Difficult exercises such as the Horseback are more comfortable on the Ladder Barrel. The Ballet stretches can help increase flexibility in a gentle way.

Advanced Mat
Challenge the Mat series with contemporary and advanced modifications using props like the Physio Ball, Fitness rings, TheraBands and BoSUs.

Comprehensive Pilates Equipment Teacher Training

Complete the required courses along with the Foundational Mat course. You will also complete additional hours of observation, practice, and teaching. Achieve success in our Written and Practical Exams with a minimum score of 80%. After that, take the Written National Pilates Comprehensive (Equipment) Exam and score at least 80% to earn your certification. To sustain your certification, actively engage in Continuing Education Courses, there are numerous options available. Certified teachers must also prioritize their own physical practice to remain in condition.

OSU Program
OSU Students have the opportunity to extend their understanding and train for certification by taking the Core Wellness Teacher Training Program. This Program is 3-6 OSU courses long.
The OSU Student Program comprises 4-13 credit hours completed at OSU:

Full Pilates Certification
Aim to have at least 15-20 hours of Pilates before beginning this plan, OR experience with Pilates plus teaching fitness/dance/etc., OR experience with Pilates plus strong anatomy knowledge/Allied Health Background.

Courses are time intensive, valuable experiences and are not refundable. Our Courses typically run in May-Oct, over the course of several weekends (F-Sun), 3-6 hours each day. Our Teacher Training program is not a guarantee of certification. At an additional cost participants may purchase manuals and other materials to enhance learning and develop their reference library. You will receive a letter of completion/certificate at the successful conclusion of your training. To become Comprehensively and Nationally Certified, the Core Wellness Practical and Written exams are required as well as sitting for the NCCA approved National Pilates Certification Program’s (NPCP) Examination (nationalpilatescertificationprogram.org). The exams are optional and an additional cost. At the time of this posting Comprehensive Exams are $300. We are listed as a partner school for the NPCP.
